Mission: To get more kids to become involved in the sport of triathlon in the state of Alaska by providing inclusive, fun races for kids ages 4-19 from beginners through the competitive level.

Race Description: The aquathlon (swim/run) will start with a swim in Service High School Pool followed by a run on a mixture of dirt ski trails and pavement. MAP BELOW!

RACE SPONSOR! A portion of the proceeds from the Splash n’ Dash Series will go towards The Basics Alaska. The Basics mission is to advocate and support children in need of shoes and winter clothing, which would enable healthy, safe, active lifestyles in school, sports, and recreational setting. Launching the newly formed non-profit began during the fall of 2012, focusing on the needs of the Children in Transition program with the Anchorage School District, serving over 3,800 students. The goal of “The Basics” is to expand statewide within Alaska.

DONATE!!!! Please bring your newly used sneakers, snow boots or cleats to any of the 3 races and donate them in the blue buckets at the entryway to the pool! Every donor will receive a FREE pair of shoelaces!

PRICE: 

$20 for 1 race prior to race day

$30 in-person registration

$50 for the entire series

$60 in-person registration for the entire series

$10/1year USA Triathlon License REQUIRED for all participants

TIME/DISTANCE:

4:30-6:15pm Bib pick-up and transition is OPEN

5:30-6:30PM START – This is an interval start, after the initial first wave starts, racers will start when lane spots before available. Kids will be in a line on the pool deck and will start in the order they are in line from the time they show up. **NEW for 2018**

  • SEA OTTER’S – Pee Wee/Youth/Juniors 100m Swim – 1.5k Run

Swim: 100m (2laps) in Service High Pool

 

 

 

 

 

Run: 1.5k (.75miles) loop running course on pavement and gravel trails (1 lap of the run course)

  • PUFFIN’S – **Youth/Junior Elite 300m Swim – 3k Run

Swim: 300m (6 laps) in Service High Pool

 

 

 

 

 

Run: 2 loops of the 1.5k (1.5miles) course on a variety of pavement and dirt trails.

**Must be able to swim a  500y under 10minutes and a 5k run under 35minutes in order to compete in the Puffins Wave. **

GIVEAWAYS!!! Every participant will receive a USA Triathlon Splash n’ Dash T-Shirt and medal for participating. Every individual that participates will receive 1 t-shirt. Medals will be given out after EVERY race along with Menchie’s frozen yogart!

 

PRIZES: There will be 5 raffle prizes after each race for every racer that sticks around for the last racer to finish!

 

AWARDS: Awards will take place at the end of the last race of the series. Points will be awarded after each race. Awards will be given to the top point accumulations for the series. Points will be posted online within a few days after each race. Awarded will be given to the Top 3 in each age group.

 

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! – Duties: Registration, bib pick-up, transition area, run course support, and finish line help. After each race there will be raffle prizes for volunteers as well. Also, at the end of the series there will be a GRAND PRIZE for 1 volunteer that will be raffled off. You do not have to be present at the award ceremony to win.

Scholarships are not currently available but we encourage all families pressed on funds to reach out to the race director, Heather Helzer, in regards to volunteering opportunities.
