If you haven’t joined us for one of our Spring Duathlon Races at Kincaid Park in Anchorage, Alaska yet, you need to! Our kids races are all on paved trails for the bike and run. The adults run course is on a mix of pavement and dirt trails but the bike is all on paved trails.
The kids ages 4-8yr old race is our biggest race with approx. 25kids. The kids run .35miles – bike 2.5miles – run .35miles, all on paved trails that are very well marked and have tons of volunteers cheering kids on. This race is all about getting kids into the multi-sport racing in a fun, positive setting. At the finish line every kid gets a finisher medal and gummy gears.
The kids 9-12yr old race is our most competitive race with approx. 15kids that are truly running and biking their hardest for the entire race. This age group runs .7miles – bikes 5miles – runs .7miles, receiving finisher medals and gummy bears at the finish line as well!
The kids 13-17yr old race start with the adults but they run a separate run course, running 3laps of the kids paved run course allowing for lots of support from family and less mileage, running 1.05mile each run. The kids 13-17yrs old bike 2 laps of the adult bike course at the same time as the adults, biking the shoulder of the road from the chalet to the exit of Kincaid and then taking the multi-use trail back to the turnaround. Kids bike 6.6miles. Total race details include: 1.05mile run, 6.6mile bike, 1.05mile run.
The Adults race starts with a mix of pavement and trail, running a large 1.5mile loop around the chalet area of Kincaid. Then adults bike 10miles, doing 3 loops of Kincaid Park all on pavement, finishing with the same 1.5mile run.
