Our check-in tent will be available starting at 5-7pm. This is where families can pickup their swag bags and race bibs.
We will have markers next to the check-in table. We will ask that parents take the time to mark their child immediately after picking up their bib to ensure they have the correct bib # marked on their body. Body marking will be on both upper arms and left calf.
Families can start lining up outside the entrance to the pool, the door closest to Trailside Elementary near the check-in tent starting at 5:45pm. Kids are welcome to start their swim as late at 7:15pm. Pool doors will close at 7:15pm.
RACE START TIME:
Anytime between 5:45-7:15pm your child can line up outside the pool entrance, doors closes to Trailside Elementary to begin their swim. We will start swim testing at 6pm. *IF YOUR CHILD ALREADY DID A SWIM TEST* they need their bracelet from the prior race! First wave start at 6:05pm. Start time will begins when kids get into the water. Families are welcome in the pool but you MUST remove your shoes before entering the pool deck. Parents with little ones are welcome to wait for lane 6 so you can walk along side your child while they swim but parents are not allowed in the water with their child. Life jackets are welcome and available but we strongly encourage families to bring their own.
**PLEASE BRING YOUR CHILDS BRACELET IF THEY ATTENDED RACE #1**
Every athlete will be required to do a short 15yard swim in the pool prior to beginning their race. Red bracelets will be given out to life jacket wearers, multi-colored bracelets will be giving out to those that DO NOT need a life jacket. Life jackets are welcome and available but we strongly encourage you to bring your own if you have one.
EXITING THE TRANSITION AREA:
Kid’s are responsible for shouting out their race number to the volunteer at the exit of the transition area as they head out onto the run to help with recording accuracy.
Sea Otters (shorter race): 50m swim (1 lap, down & back) THEN .75mile run.
Puffins (longer race): 300m swim (6 laps) THEN 1.5mile run (2laps). ***Lane 1 will be a Puffin only lane with a volunteer helping you count laps***
Kid’s are responsible for knowing which race they are signed up to complete. At check-in, they will tell kids which race they are signed up to complete. If you would like to change from one race to the other, you can do so at check-in.
The entire run course is VERY well marked with yellow signs at turns and orange pin flags through out the entire trail run and orange duct tape on the pavement for the short section not on dirt. Families are welcome to run with kids. We will have a photographer on the run course on a bike, cheering kids on, along with volunteers with cowbells and bear spray.
DASH ONLY RACERS:
We’ve added a “Dash only” race option this year for those that would like to participate in this kid’s only event but are not ready to participate in a swimming event just yet. Dash only racers will start their race at the transition exit line. There will be a volunteer recording your bib # and start time.
We also are continuing to offer a virtual option for families unable to attend our in-person event but would still like to participate. This is a 1.5mile run where racers will record their results only via the runsignup platform after completing their race. Racers have 1wk to complete their virtual race. We will mail virtual racers their swag and medal! If you are unable to make the race on Tuesday, feel free to email us requesting transfer to the virtual race. This is a FREE transfer, we’d just love to see every kid stays active and moving this Summer in whatever way works for your family.
All racers that sign up for all 3 racers in the series will receive a FREE Alaska Splash n’ Dash t-shirt!
T-shirts will be handed out at Race #2.
Every racers will receive a swag bag, which includes a pair of goggles, swim cap, drawstring bag, stickers and community coupons.
Top overall 3 boys/girls in each age group in the points standings will win a custom race towel.
More races = more changes to rank higher!
