Spring Duathlon Race #1 is TOMORROW! Registration closes TONIGHT 9:59pm! There is NO RACE DAY SIGN UP! Our virtual race option is available May 11-17th and registration is open until May 17th, we even mail you your swag!
Message from the race director:
Bib pickup is on race day only. Please come a minimum of 30mins before the race to pickup your bib.
– KID’S RACE CHANGES – There are 3 sections of snow on the kid’s bike course. We are shortening the bike loop to eliminate the biathlon penalty loop to avoid snow. There is snow as kids enter the biathlon range, which is avoidable with caution. There is snow on the backside uphill of the biathlon loop, which might melt off but if not, kids will have to run their bike up the 50yard uphill pushing their bikes through the snow, which will make for a fun, Alaskan twist to the race! The kid’s run is free of snow and in good shape!
– ADULTS RACE CHANGES – The adult’s run course will be shortened to 1.15mile loop, eliminating the snow making loop because there is still lots of snow and mud on the trail. Adults will run the same course, just turning back towards the transition area at the stadium. Please be sure to follow the flagging to take the least muddy route to help of make minimal impact to the park. The bike course looks great! I leaf blew both turn around points to clear any gravel. The entire transition area has also been leaf blown.
Race day support & lead/sweep bikes are needed. If you can help, would you please sign up HERE! Thank you so much in advance.
Here is the email with everyone you need to know! It’s not too late to invite your friends and family.

DUATHLON TRANSITION AREA:
There are 3 designated transition areas, one of Kids 4-8, Kids 9-12, and Kids 13 and up through Adults. Racers can find their correct transition area by noting the duct tape race name in each transition area. The transition area is the cones off area at the top of the Coastal Trail, the parking area that will be closed off.
Please wear your bib on the front of your body to allow our race support to easily recognize that you are in the race. Our timing staff also need to be able to visually see bibs when crossing the finish line in order for racers to get a time. If your bib is on your back or underneath layers, be sure to call out your bib # as you cross the finish line.
Please do not cross the finish line more than one and move away from the line once you’ve finished to allow for our timers to have less confusion with racers finishing.
POST RACE SNACKS:
We will have packaged snacks to go but we ask that you BYOB (bring your own bottle, of hydration). Racers are welcome to leave their water bottles below the snack table while racing, be sure to have your name on it! We will have a jug of water for you to refill your bottle. This supports Turnagain Trainings efforts to not provide single use plastics and minimal waste.
AWARDS & PRIZES:
This is a 3 race series. Racers will receive points for each race within their gender & age group. We will have an end-of-race awards party, stay tuned for details! We will have a bunch of prizes to hand out for random finishers that stay at the finish line till the end of each race, cheering on the last finisher!
All participants will receive a custom race bib & goodies in race envelopes, including FREE Tastee Freez ice cream for a post race treat! We will have series t-shirts at the LAST RACE for series participants only, those that sign up for all 3 races (virtual and/or in-person).
Hope to see you tomorrow!
